Jabatan Mufti Melaka Overview
In the year 1957 (after independence), Melaka has been established a Enekmen named Melaka State Administration of Muslim Law 1959 (amended in 1991 and 2002). Mufti office was officially established and functions under this enekmen. In the initial stage, Jabatan Mufti Melaka is one of the Malacca Islamic Religious Department (JAIM). It is known as the Fatwa. However, in 1996, the Public Service Department (PSD) has issued a circular on the segregation of Fatwa Division of the Department of Islamic states in Malaysia. Since then, the beginnings of the existence of a ruling institution in Malacca which is known as the State Mufti’s Office under the Malacca Chief Minister of Malacca.
